800+ CISPA Supporters

As the campaign against the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) heats up, it’s important for the opposition movement to understand just how many companies directly or indirectly support the legislation (i.e. through a trade group). Here, the complete list of CISPA supporters.

During the week of April 23, the House of Representatives is expected to vote on the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 (CISPA). And starting on Monday, a variety of organizations, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Center for Democracy and Technology, The Constitution Project, Demand Progress, Engine Advocacy, Fight for the Future, Free Press, Reporters Without Borders, Techdirt, and TechFreedom plan to launch a “week of action” campaign against CISPA, a bill they believe remains dangerously broad in its language, which could result in abuse by the government, and damages to our civil liberties.

While many are comparing CISPA to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), the two bills are entirely different for a number of reasons. First, CISPA is a cybersecurity bill that pertains to the sharing of information between the government and private companies. SOPA was an anti-piracy bill that sought to block access to “foreign rogue” websites that illegally distributed copyrighted material. Second, SOPA was opposed by many of the technology and Internet industry’s biggest players. CISPA, on the other hand, effectively has the support of hundreds of technology and Internet companies — a key difference that could drastically affect whether the anti-CISPA crowd can successfully block passage of the bill.

To give you a full picture of just how much political firepower the CISPA has in Congress, we’ve listed most, if not all, of the companies and organizations that have voiced either direct support for CISPA (by writing a letter, or otherwise expressing support for this specific bill), or indirect support through the direct support of a trade group. The organizations or companies listed in bold have voiced direct support. Those companies not in bold have not necessarily given direct support (though quite a few have), but have supported the bill through the trade group, which is listed in bold. The links go to the .pdf files of the letters the company sent to the House Intelligence Committee to express their support of CISPA.

As you can see, the list of CISPA supporters is massive, and should give anyone who thinks this will be an easy political fight a dose of reality. Not that CISPA can’t be stopped but, well, scroll down and you’ll see what we mean.

WTF?

Image

The above shot is from WordPress for android [I'm using an Asus Transformer tf101 10.1" tablet]. Now, what I don’t understand is why after I choose the “read” icon [that little eye in the right top corner] to look at my blog in all its technicolor glory is why there’s a fucking ad at the bottom of my content? [see pic below] I don’t want ads. My blog doesn’t have the ads when I view it from the home computer [my laptop]. Is this what WordPress has come to? If so, then maybe it’s time to transfer everything to blogger.

Image

This last pic is of the same blog, but the screenshot was taken from the browser in Android…notice the lack of ads? Take the f’n ads out of my android WordPress app!!!

Media fails to report true unemployment rates

The U3 unemployment rate has gone down because potential workers have dropped out. The actual U3 rate is closer to 12.3%, not 8.1%. And if you look to U6 unemployment, the rate is 16.7%. Go to njfac.org and look at monthly jobs news. The failure to hire all these un-used workers lies not in the education system but the economy itself. Owners or employers are not creating jobs. In April, 2000, there were 110 million private sector jobs, and today there are 110 million private sector jobs. After 12 years, no private sector jobs increase, in spite of fact that 25 million people have joined the “working age” population. You have to see the BLS documentation to corroborate. So, another 5.4% are involuntary part-time workers, and another 11% are working full-time at below poverty level wage income — add it up, 11%, and 5% and 12% — about 28% are either 1) without work, 2) without enough work, or 3) working full-time and year round at poverty level or below wages.
Now that’s change we can believe in. Really? Give me a f’n break. Impeach Obama for crimes against the citizens!

Late night conflagration

It’s been a long minute since I wrote anything on here, so here we go again.

Where I do my thinking at.

I’m sitting at my desk…freshly reorganized and optimized…trying to get momentum up to edit my midterm paper for extra credit. I want to raise my grade from an 80 to at least a ninety, but the procrastinator in me tells me that “you don’t have to, you already have an overall 96 in the class.” Man how my internal dialog gets in my way sometimes. Hahaha, even writing this short post is a distraction from what I should do – STUDY. It’s my hopes that by putting it “on paper” that I will see just how much time I’m wasting, and get down to the business of why I’m in Denver in the first place, and that is to get a superior education. That’s not going to happen if I keep procrastinating. So far things have gone reasonably well since moving here. Though money is a constant issue, and things are tight [less than 320.00 to last me till Feb. 2012], I have faith that if I keep doing what has been set in front of me to the best of my ability then things will work out.
